When Mark from Cryptology contacted me about working together on the branding for an escape room he was about to open in Nottingham city centre I couldn't resist. What's an escape room I hear you say? Well they are a type of physical adventure game where a group of people are locked in a room and have to use elements within the room to solve a number of puzzles, find clues and escape within a set time frame. Think Crystal Maze but without Richard O'Brien helping you out.

Cryptology is an unforgettable experience right in the heart of Nottingham City Centre and is perfect for those who love solving problems and deciphering riddles. It's safe to say any designer (especially geek over here) would find this project fun to work on!

The early stages of a branding project are categorically my favourite part of the process especially working on a mood board when you start to see everything come together and the ideas start flowing and I can definitely say there were ideas a plenty with this one.

In the end we decided to go with a clean, simple vector based look and feel with plenty of geometric patterns and shapes but also brought in elements related to it's unique proposition. with mazes, locks and keys a plenty.

This was a ridiculously fun project to work on and Mark was an absolute pleasure to work with. Fun, creative and very passionate. I for one cannot wait to visit Cryptology very soon, even if I do end up stuck in the room until the end of time!
